The Employee Communication Platform
Driving company-wide conversation in an organization with over 66,000 people across 26 countries.
of employees use Workvivo
of employees feel connected to their organization
of employees feel kept in the loop by leadership
Distributing media content was slow and inefficient, global teams couldn’t connect, senior leaders weren’t accessible enough, and there was little room for fun and inspiring engagement.
To turn things around, TELUS International had some key requirements when going to market for its new employee communications and engagement solution:
With these priorities in place, TELUS International was ready to begin its journey towards a more connected, engaged, and motivated workforce. The last piece of the puzzle was finding the best possible partner to support it. That’s why it chose WORKVIVO.
Director of Global Internal Communications
Within just three months of launching, 70% of staff had already logged into Workvivo. The TELUS International team achieved this through ramping up internal marketing and awareness campaigns around the platform in the lead-up to its rollout.
Today, the platform has an average monthly usage rate of 79%. And achieving that adoption rate hasn’t put stress on TELUS International’s resources – quite the opposite. The company has less than one full-time equivalent IT employee supporting Workvivo for TELUS International staff, which hosts more than 75,000 people in over 25 countries.
Since introducing Workvivo, TELUS International’s employees are having a better workplace experience. Measuring the success of its internal comms through engagement scores, surveys, and data pulled from Workvivo’s analytics feature, the company has found that:
Hugo said that Workvivo is the “main platform” for TELUS International employees to engage and communicate with each other. “Key events, trainings, and really anything that is tied to culture at our company is shared through Workvivo – and employee retention is directly tied to that.
“Workvivo is key to such engagement drivers as ‘sense of belonging’ here and ‘I feel informed/well connected to what is happening in my company, in my country, at my site and with my team’.
“Finally, it’s also responsible for an increase in ‘I feel recognised for my work here’ scores.”

Workvivo gives TELUS International employees a specific place from which they can start their day. Whether working in the office or remotely, logging on to a shared platform where they’ll find any updates, news, and company-wide conversations helps provide a great employee experience.
It also acts as a useful base portal from which they can visit the other integrated applications they need throughout the day, including customer tools that operate under Payments and Credit Card Industry (PCI) standards
Rosemary said, “Even with PCI accounts, Workvivo content and engagement initiatives can be accessed through mobile while not working on the floor.”
TELUS International employees make great use of the Spaces feature on Workvivo, using them for targeted communications within specific locations and departments, but also to connect with each other over working-from-home tips, mental health, and tech support.
Rosemary shared that Spaces are important for employee advocacy, “enabling a vehicle for employee resource groups to reach more broadly”.
“Workvivo has been so great to help keep everyone really connected while working from home. Our internal teams have done such a great job of keeping the platform fully stocked with things like regional social responsibility activities, wellness-related content, and engagement activities like baking contests. All of these things really help us cultivate the culture that we love at TELUS International, even when working remotely.” TELUS International Employee
TELUS International uses Workvivo to host its internal podcast, ‘Learning Hacks’. Episodes often feature leaders in the company, which helps break down barriers and silos between management and the rest of the organization. Since it launched in 2020, episodes have been played over 30,000 times.
Workvivo’s translation tool saves TELUS International time, effort, and money, but it also frees team members up for contributing to the company’s goals outside of updating and maintaining its intranet platform.
Hugo explained that less than one full-time equivalent IT employee supports TELUS International’s Workvivo.
With Workvivo, TELUS International can run more engaging campaigns for its employees. One example is its Miss Congeniality contest, which helped people across every department come together to celebrate Pride month.
“As many of our team members continue to work from home, Workvivo is where we do and promote a lot of engagement and recognition activities. For example, our team in the Philippines held a drag queens contest during Pride month in June 2021 and the winner of the Miss Congeniality award was selected via a poll on the platform.” – TELUS International Employee. There were 7,988 votes in total.
Every single person in TELUS International has the opportunity to give and receive recognition on Workvivo, building a culture of support, appreciation, and connection.
“Every day you’ll see people posting their kudos for team members. This is a simple thing, but it has a real, high impact on the culture of our team to see people being called out on a daily basis for the great work they’re doing or for some support they gave to a colleague. – TELUS International Employee
“At a more formal level, we use the Badges feature for recognition,” Raquel said. “Some include our Active Volunteer and TELUS International Days of Giving badges, which recognize team member participation in our volunteer programs.”
Livestreaming allows TELUS International to easily talk directly to all of its employees no matter where they are.
“For one-off announcements, we use the livestream feature,” Raquel said. “Our team members are super engaged with these types of announcements. There’s always high attendance and you can see people constantly liking and commenting throughout these videos. It’s great to see.
“Most recently, we used this feature to announce the winners of our engagement awards, and it went down really well.”
For the first time, people across teams, departments, countries, and time zones can talk to each other as TELUS International employees – even if 30% of them are fully remote or hybrid.
Hugo said, “Workvivo was exactly in that sort of segment of helping organizations live their culture, to make sure that their culture is permanent. Because that’s one thing that distinguishes organizations in terms of their success, is making sure their culture is permanent, that it can live their culture, their team members understand the culture.
“Workvivo has also helped spark innovation. Now we’re producing podcasts, we’re live streaming panel discussions, and creating more people-oriented content.
“The really cool thing is that all this content goes out to a global community, and any of our team members anywhere in the world can join in on the conversation in the comments. Having a single platform makes a huge difference for an organization our size, and we didn’t have that capability before.”
Rosemary added, “Given that Workvivo automatically translates many languages, it provides an opportunity to spread news quickly and efficiently, without the need for external vendor translation, which takes a lot of time, effort and cost.”
