Staffordshire University is known as The Connected University. A leading university for digital technologies, it was natural for them to seek new and innovative ways to connect their staff across campuses and locations.
As a highly connected and progressive university, communication and collaboration are hugely important. That is not always easy in a traditional University structure. One of the challenges around this was employee engagement.
Andrew Proctor – Head of Digital Services: We had so many different disparate channels where people could receive updates, information and communicate with each other. There was a lot of fragmentation in what we were doing and we wanted to consolidate it into one channel.
Staffordshire University also didn’t want communication to be top down only – they wanted their people to be engaged and involved in sharing information and updates and create a sense of community that they felt part of, where their contribution mattered and was heard.
With Workvivo, Staffordshire saw an opportunity to give their staff a new way to engage and communicate. They were looking for an intuitive app based solution with a really modern rich look and feel, that was user friendly – simple to log in, start posting and engaging. Workvivo enabled staff to tie their daily activity to a company goal, showcasing their work and gaining recognition for their contribution. It also allowed staff to recognise their colleagues’ contributions via shout outs, encouraging stronger bonds between cross functional teams.
