Olam Agri is a leading international agribusiness with more than 10,000 employees across over 30 countries. From offices and partner research labs to fields and processing plants, its workforce is diverse and geographically dispersed – making communication and engagement a complex challenge.
Before Workvivo, the company relied on Workplace by Meta to share internal updates and connect employees. When Workplace announced its shutdown, Olam Agri began searching for a platform that could deliver the closest employee engagement experience to Workplace.
After evaluating over 10 potential platforms, Olam Agri chose Workvivo for its familiar, social-style interface, robust mobile capabilities, and ability to easily link out to existing HR, Finance, Procurement, IT and other daily work applications. Internally, the platform was branded “The Loop” – symbolizing connection, inclusion, and the idea that everyone should be kept in the loop.

Why Olam Agri Chose Workvivo
Nicole and her team needed a platform that could do more than broadcast messages. They wanted something that would unite their people, empower local voices, and simplify the digital employee experience.

Employees no longer rely on emails or word of mouth to stay informed – instead, they can open The Loop on their phones and instantly access what’s happening across the business.
2. Knowledge Sharing and Education
The platform helps break down silos between business units and geographies. Teams regularly share updates about operations in different regions, helping employees stay connected to events and initiatives around the world.
This content helps employees understand Olam Agri’s diverse product lines and global footprint, building a greater sense of connection and pride in the company’s mission.
3. Employee Engagement and Culture
Olam Agri actively encourages user-generated content. Employees share photos, updates, and reflections from their work – creating a space that feels authentic and employee-driven.
Features like shout-outs, birthday and anniversary recognitions, awards and new joiner welcomes have made appreciation a visible part of company culture.

4. Front Door to Employee Services
Beyond communication, Workvivo acts as an entry point to other work systems. Employees can easily access links for pay slips, performance reviews, leave applications, claims, and financial reporting tools - simplifying daily workflows.
5. Measuring Impact Through Engagement Quality
For Olam Agri’s communications team, success isn’t just about logins or usage metrics. It’s about the quality of engagement – the comments, conversations, and organic posts that signal people feel comfortable to share their voices.
We are looking to build engagement, build community, and a sense of belonging. We’ve started getting leaders to do videos to respond to people’s questions or what’s happening in the company.
We look at whether we get organic content from people and not just corporate. In a few West African countries, we see a lot more personal updates or community updates. It shows that people feel comfortable in that digital space, and are confident to have a voice.
Implementation and Management: A Strategic, Inclusive Approach
The success of Workvivo at Olam Agri didn’t happen by chance. It was the result of a carefully planned rollout and a commitment to inclusivity from day one.
Smooth Migration
The transition from Workplace by Meta to Workvivo was seamless thanks to Workvivo’s familiar interface. Employees quickly understood how to use the new platform, minimizing disruption and keeping adoption momentum high.
Big Launch and Champions Network
To energize the rollout, the internal communications team designed a month-long launch campaign that made the new platform impossible to ignore.
They enlisted around 90 in-country champions to promote The Loop locally – using posters, flyers, and QR codes to drive awareness and sign-ups. Fun contests, quizzes, and on-site activities helped build excitement and community spirit.
Within a month, 70% of employees had activated their accounts; within a year, adoption reached 90%.
When we launched Workvivo, we definitely did a big launch because we wanted to re-energize the whole culture of using the app
We wanted to use this opportunity to tell people that it is the app for all employees - to have a place and a voice. It was a whole month of competitions, quizzes, prizes, and on-site activity. We also organized a group of champions to get people excited.
Strategic Guardrails
The Loop is open for all employees to contribute within their Spaces and there are few restrictions in place. To keep The Loop focused and relevant, Olam Agri introduced clear content guardrails:
- Posts can appear in a maximum of three Spaces to avoid clutter.
- Company-wide posts are restricted to administrators.
- Space admins moderate Spaces and help guide contributors.
- This structure maintains quality and ensures employees only see content that matters to them.
Focus on Inclusivity
A core goal for Olam Agri is inclusivity – including bringing frontline workers into the fold. Many of these employees don’t have corporate email addresses, so the team is embarking on an initiative to onboard them securely to Workvivo.
