'Compared to our previous comms tool, Workvivo is miles ahead'

How Workvivo helped Evri see a ‘massive increase’ in its employee engagement score

81%

of EVRi colleagues registered on Workvivo

90%

of employees are active every month

53%

of employees use the Workvivo mobile app

Evri, one of the UK's largest parcel delivery companies and home to over 8,000 colleagues, successfully delivers more than 720 million parcels every single year, serving 12 million people. Achieving that level of service makes smooth operations and streamlined communication absolutely critical.

It also depends on the people making it happen – the employees – being happy at work. Engagement is tricky at the best of times for logistics and supply chain companies. Employees have diverse schedules and their work environments range from sitting behind a desk to driving a delivery truck, making it all too easy for barriers to form and people to feel left out.

That’s where an employee experience platform goes from a nice-to-have to a non-negotiable.

We caught up with some of the Evri team at one of the company’s parcel hubs in Barnsley to learn more about their Workvivo journey so far.

You can make connections through Workvivo that matter, and that make your life better. And because it's a work application, it's making your work life better.

What impacts have you felt with Workvivo so far?

Rebecca Quayle, Internal Content and Channel Manager

Workvivo has really transformed our colleague communications. We've got over 8,000 colleagues across the UK in six hubs and 25 depots. It really has created that digital hub that's brought everybody together. I think the biggest difference is accessibility; all of our colleagues can now access our comms platform. But it's much more than a comms platform – it's really a digital hub for everybody.

Sasha Law, Head of Internal Communications & Engagement

They can access it via their mobiles. They don't have to be on a laptop, they don't have to have a work email. We just see massive benefits across the whole operation for colleagues. Compared to our previous communications tool, Workvivo is miles ahead. It’s more collaborative. We've got real two-way communication with colleagues. It really brings our colleagues together across the whole business – and we work right across the UK. Since we implemented Workvivo, we've seen an increase on our employee engagement score of 0.5. It's a measure we have out of 10, so that's a massive increase for us across the whole business.

What’s your favorite thing about Workvivo?

Rebecca

The social feed feels a lot more vibrant because of the way that people can post. The spaces and the community groups that are happening and forming on Workvivo mean it's a lot more social.

Anita Marquina, Community Delivery Manager

It helps me become less displaced, less dispersed from the business, and more in the business.

Rebecca

We can see that people love the recognition features: the colleague shoutouts, the fact that we can give badges to colleagues for lots of different things. I think we've awarded over 900 badges during this first 12 months on Workvivo.

Anita

I love the badges. It feels very rewarding, and I like the shoutout because it's a really quick way of saying, ‘Go you!’

Workvivo does help me to do my job better on a daily basis. Working in procurement, obviously, I may buy a number of different things, and if people have any questions, I can point them direct to Workvivo. They know how to use it, and it'll also update them on changes to policies.

Does Workvivo affect your job day-to-day?

Our previous tool was very much focused on corporate comms and pushing comms out to colleagues. Workvivo feels much more like a co-owned hub for everybody.

Anita

You can make connections through Workvivo that matter, and that make your life better. And because it's a work application, it's making your work life better.

Sasha

My favorite Workvivo feature, I have to say, is the translation. We've done a massive piece of work at Evri to try and make our communications more inclusive and more accessible for colleagues.

Craig Noonan, Director of Communications & Brand

With a workforce where sometimes English isn't the first language, it can be really, really important for us to be able to get key messages out and get engagement among that community.

Connect and engage your entire organization in one place

Could you share some of your favorite Workvivo moments so far?

Rebecca

Our monthly users peaked during the Christmas period. We saw our highest-ever number of monthly users on Workvivo, around 6,000. And over 600 posts were made by colleagues during that time, from selfies of corporate colleagues out in the operation helping couriers load their cars to Christmas carols, where you had whole warehouse teams singing and a little bit of a competition happening there across sites. And the feedback, again, was really positive in that it gave people that place to go.

Sasha

For International Men's Day last year, we ran a campaign. One of our male colleagues put forward his mental health story and we supported him to write it. He posted it himself, which was amazing. He had loads of great comments and support from other colleagues, but what was really special is that off the back of that story, another one of our male colleagues contacted us asking if he could share his story, saying he'd been inspired by that colleague’s story. So it's sort of that snowball effect that gets created.

If you had to choose three words to describe Workvivo, what would they be?

Craig

If I had to describe Workvivo in three words, I would go for encourage, track, and measure.

Rebecca

I would say social, smart, and vibrant.

Anita

Easy, connecting, and positive.
